The adequate conditioning of a load is based on two points: packaging and internal protection of its contents. Cruz del Sur offers you some advice on how to prepare your shipments properly.
This depends on the type of product to ship. It is ideal to protect the merchandise so that it can withhold any movement and handling to which it may be subjected. We recommend wooden crates, cardboard boxes or corrugated cardboard (according to the product) as suitable materials to this purpose.
According to their fragility, it is recommended to put thick cardboard corners; if they have glassed fronts, put a wooden frame to protect them with the applicable "fragile" warning. If corrugated cardboard is used, put at least two or three layers or thick cardboard such as the one used for TV packaging boxes. If there are glassed sides, it is necessary to identify such sides. Please bear in mind: there are different sizes and thickness of cardboard corners and they are ideal to protect the edges of any structure.
SOFAS OR OTHER UPHOLSTERED ITEMS
They must be protected against bumps and possible stains. It is recommended to put cardboard corners, protect upholstered areas with plastic or film after the corrugated cardboard. Bear in mind that cardboard corners are not usually suitable to protect sofa legs. For them, it is recommended to use a wooden frame that allows handling and stowage and to use foam rubber for protecting edges and armrests. Chair legs must be protected against breakage or scratching as a result of stowage in the loading process. It is recommended to use cardboard corners or thick cardboard and several layers of self-adhesive film. According to the furniture's fragility, polyethylene with bubbles may be used to wrap the whole piece over the cardboard. Once packaged, it is convenient to indicate extreme and delicate points.
CARPET & FABRIC ROLLS
In order to make sure that your carpets or fabric rolls reach their destination in good conditions, they must be perfectly wrapped and must not have any folds. The wrapping may be high micronage polyethylene, which will protect them from possible stains and scraping. It is important to consider that in the case of carpets with a small diameter roll, they must be dispatched with a rigid core to prevent folding. Otherwise, the roll may reach its destination damaged.
HOME APPLIANCES, PCs AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
They must be kept in their original packaging or a similar one. They must have cardboard corners, their surfaces must be painted or metal coated and they must be duly protected against bumps and scraping. In the case of washing machines, the drums must be fixed with the original anchoring devices (long screws that are placed from the back of the machine). In all cases, it is recommended to use polyethylene with bubbles. In the case of home appliances' packaging, never put cardboard directly onto painted surfaces because rubbing causes the paint to wear off. It is recommended to use pieces of cloth or self-adhesive film. In the case of musical instruments, they must all, without exception, be kept in their original packaging or else, in wooden crates. They must be dispatched with safety strips or labels that guarantee the packaging inviolability.
SANITARY WARE AND TILES
This type of merchandise is considered fragile and delicate shipment. Therefore, it must be duly protected against bumps and scraping. It is recommended to use the original packaging or else to stow the tile boxes on a pallet with a wooden frame, with the original boxes duly stacked. In the case of tiles, avoid the shipment of boxes that have been outdoors and gotten wet, since this weakens the packaging (ceramic boxes) even if they are dry when dispatching.
This is the protection that separates the product from the packaging, offering extra firmness to the package. According to the type of product, Styrofoam, wrinkled paper, bubble film, undulated cardboard sheets, etc. may be used.
